Crest & Dollar Tree
I was told by the store manager that they DO honor their prices.
UPDATE
I have yet to hear anything back from Wal-Mart and I am going to assume that we can carry on with price matching as we have been doing. I was last told they would be verifying prices and verifying my spreadsheet and would let me know if they had any questions. So carry on...... =)
Follow up call from Wal-Mart
I was contacted by one of the managers concerning my call and we discussed some of the issues we have been having. Unfortunately, she can only monitor her store and you will have to take it upon yourselves to contact the managers of the store you use. As of today if it is one of those "too good to be true" prices, just bring the ad with you. I gathered the general rule is if it is more than half off it should be checked out. Please do not take advantage of their ad match guarantee, we do not want them to take it away! I will keep you all updated. Happy shopping, goodnight!
Conversation With Corporate
Today I called Wal-Mart's corporate office with some of the issues we have had with Wal-Mart and the price matching. They said it is a corporate policy that you DO NOT have to have the ads in hand. Wal-Mart employees are responsible for following up on items they feel are too cheap. They told me that other store brands cannot be used for Great Value and these have been removed from the list. =( That is ok, we will get better deals on name brand items! =) They did feel that it is out of line for an employee to make someone feel uncofortable and make them feel they are not being truthful. They did apologize and an email I sent and my call was forwarded to the level of management that handles this. I hope you still continue to price match and do not let one person that makes it difficult make you stop. I have far more good stories than I do bad. =)
WARNING!!
I usually have very good luck price matching and couponing. However, there are times that certain managers just refuse to honor a price. Most of the time their reason is silly and basically boils down to them thinking it is just too cheap. In the end it is always up the the manager according to their corporate office. Therefore, I am not responsible for any unhonored deals. Like I said, this is rare, but does happen.
